On March 11, 2020, the GRAETC Executive Committee hosted the EdTechRVA 2020 conference at Virginia Commonwealth University. The conference sold out with approximately 350 participants, not including the number of students that were able to attend and participate as volunteers, keynote speakers, and conference playground presenters! The EdTech2020 was able to provide 40 breakout sessions, a demo slam with several brave participants, a Tech Playground, and 6 vendors including Legends of Learning, Newsela, Flocabulary, Nearpod, Clinton Learning Solutions, and Learn.
This year’s conference included a special keynote presented by Henrico Middle School students, the Griffin Gurus. The Griffin Gurus are students that become “teachers” as they share their passion for technology by delivering high-tech lessons to their own teachers and peers in their schools. Their keynote shared the many skills needed to be a true, Guru, including workforce readiness skills.
GRAETC Executive Committee will be using the feedback from the conference participants to begin actively planning for EdTechRVA 2021.
