On March 9, 2016, EdTechRVA supported connected learning by welcoming over 300 local educators to experience a day chock-full of networking and professional growth at VCU’s Academic Learning Center. The conference encouraged educators to Reach Beyond: Real-world, Entrepreneurship, Adaptive, Creativity, and Higher-order Thinking. Interest in the conference soared this year resulting in a conference sell-out! In addition to 36 concurrent break-out sessions, attendees also enjoyed an action-packed, high energy Ignite session with four dynamic speakers, along with lunch entertainment provided by Henrico High School’s Pep Band. There were a total of 15 school divisions represented as presenters, and 51 school divisions and educational organizations in attendance.
Conference Attendees reported these presentations as their top three:
- Good, Better, Best – Moving Past Tech for Tech’s Sake by Stacie C. Taylor from Hanover County Public Schools
- The 3C’s: Code, Create, Think Critically by Jon Wirsing from Henrico County Public Schools
- Google Cultural Institute and Google Cardboard (VR) for the Classroom K-12 by Robin L. Edwards from Chesterfield County Public Schools
